I'm baaaaaack!

Yep, consistant as always!  Ah well, can't be helped.  I have been busy with jp service & doctor appointments etc.  I am also going to go to Maleny on Monday to see the lady (June?) to get a run through of the service.  Then on Tuesday I will be joining a bunch of the volunteers for a familiarisation tour around the area.  Should be good.

John has done a lovely thing and booked us in to a little motel up in Flaxton on Saturday night in order to have a night out at the French restaurant there.  It is run by a real live frenchman (Thierry) and everything!  It seems that John & I  have known each other for 10 years and it is almost exactly 6 years since the fateful kiss!  We have been to dinner there once, a number of years ago and had breakfast a couple of times - but always in company with others. Looking forward to it.  Ain't he romantic :)

How did it get to be Friday?

Well the week has just vanished on me! I don't seem to have done much, but am tired all the same. Had a few good outings. Went to the meeting for Maleny visitor centre and met a nice bunch of people. I will probably end up volunteering there a little. Have to try to take baby steps or I will possibly fall down and then I will feel useless & depressed all over again ( experience finally wins out!). Then, on Wednesday, John & I went out to dinner - spur of the moment thing really - to a strange buffet seafood place in Caloundra. There was hardly anyone there except a small number of pensioner types, which was strange because the food was really good. I worked hard not to overdo it but fresh prawns, crabs, oysters, roast beef, pork, chicken, asian foods, desserts etc made it hard work! Luckily they also had nice crisp salads & a few decent veggies so they saved the day! And John had plenty of wine - which made me the designated driver and reduced my wine intake. It was very nice all round and probably all the better for being unplanned.

Up & At 'Em

Well, yesterday took a turn for the better!. I actually did go & use my exercise machine for 30 mins & when John got home we went for a drive down to the sea side (once I pried him away from his computer game!!!). We had a nice walk along the waterfront after doing a bit of sight-seeing around the place. Very pleasant. Home to Spag Bol & a small glass of red wine. I am trying to be good and only having a drink a couple of times a week - and then only a glass or two, instead of my half of a bottle!!. I don't really miss it most of the time.

Today was JP duty down at the Visitor centre. Nice chats with the ladies who work there & even some of the visitors. Not an onerous duty as there only seem to be a couple of people come in. Turns into a little social outing. Going to get me some more of them! It seems to be the best way of getting me moving - so, up & at 'em! Never say die! (she says as she heads for the lounge room to watch recorded TV programs! :P )

Sunday, dreary Sunday

Just sitting, thinking of all the things I should be doing. John is off with the fire brigade guys again today. I spent 5 hrs (!!) at the shed yesterday baby-sitting plumbers who where installing a bunch of stuff. I had signed up for a couple of hours - John was off setting up for today's outing. We all thought it would be over by 10 am. John even went home thinking I would be long finished - but no...dutifully guarding a gaggle of tradies. Had hoped to do a few things with the afternoons but I doubt John will be home any sooner today - so an entire weekend donated to the Rural Fire Brigade. Not that I really mind...I was just hoping to use some outdoor time walking with hubby to reignite my interest in exercise! I have fallen off the wagon big time - a colonoscopy last week messed with my digestion & I used that as an excuse to just sit & do nowt! Must get moving! I really do feel better when I have at least tried to exercise............

Wild Weather Day

The weather has been pretty wild today with storms rumbling through for quite a long time.  It is still raining but we have managed very well with no problems other than a power outage for a bit.  Unfortunately, the air pressure has managed to give me a monster headache...but you get that.

I am hoping that I am not losing momentum with this diet change ahead of my colonoscopy.  I kind of feel trapped by the restrictions which stop me eating "properly" and that seems to have removed some of my resolve re exercise.  Any excuse I guess.  I think I might just go easy on myself this week & start fresh after Thursday.  I have managed to inadvertantly join a couple of things without trying.  JP thingy on Mondays and now I might be starting as a volunteer in the Maleny visitor centre.  Got to make sure I don't charge ahead too quickly.

Monday - the day to start my rebuild

I just read my last blog. Gosh what a whinge! But the funny thing is, Thursday was kind of pivotal. I was obsessing, as per usual, before seeing my rheumatologist (trying to guess what he would ask me so I would have the answer!) and in the process had a fairly major epiphany. In explaining to the doctor my plan of action I realised that I no longer thought of myself as a "derelict hovel" but more as a "unique fixer-upper" or "handyman's delight" :P I have a bunch of projects on the go - diet, exercise, blogging - which I will use to "rebuild" myself. Like all DIY projects, it will take some time and there will be set-backs both major & minor, but I feel a bit more positive in my outlook. I spent this morning at the Glass House Mountains Visitor Centre as I was asked to be a volunteer JP (in my case Commissioner for Declarations). I just sit in the air-con with the nice ladies and sign stuff. Today was the first day - and two people actually came in! It was all very exciting! I was crook as a dog on Sunday after entertaining friends until 4am - no sleep does not a happy Lou make!! But after good sleep last night I am back on track - I hope!! I have to throw my diet out the window for a couple of days as I have a low-residue diet in preparation for my colonoscopy on Thursday. One of the steps in my rebuild program - get all the things that are fixable fixed and all the things that need checking checked! Onward & Upward!!

Out & About

Well, I am in for a big day (for me) today. I have already driven to Woodford and back (1 hr 10 round trip), had blood taken for tests, spent 20 minutes talking to my butcher and 10 minutes talking to the deli lady...all before breakfast! I have also done a load of washing which is not really that strenuous as it had to go in the dryer (raining) and now have to get ready to drive to Caloundra (1 hr round trip) to see a specialist. This guy is notoriously late - I once saw him at 5:30 despite a 2:00 appointment - but of course my manic punctuality will not let me be late in return! I know I am whinging but I only had 4 hrs sleep...blahhhh! Such a sook!

And we're back!

What a slacker! Such a gad-fly mind. I really must attempt to make some good habits...and I like to think of this as a good habit. Now if I can manage to keep this, minding my diet and doing some excercise - well, life is on its knees before me!!! Tomorrow the World! Mwahhahaha!

HOT!

Ready for summer to be over. I am definitely a winter person. People who have lived in cold climates tell me I wouldn't like it for long...but I am willing to give it a go!

Sunday

V, busy day hence v. tired! Went for a picnic & bought a freezer & food processor & visited the Ginger Factory at Yandina before heading up a very rough dirt track in search of a picnic ground. Luckily found one and had a nice lunch. Home eventually to read lots of instructions, move furniture and make meatloaf in the food processor. Lovely day!!

And again...

Big day yesterday. Went shopping for presents for our new cleaning lady. Looking forward to that. Find I quite like a clean house & am dealing with the embarrassment! Then went to see Avatar in 3D. Was a bit scared that the effects would give me motion sickness but managed to be so in love with the effects that I managed to not be bothered. All I can say is WOW. Loved it and probably need to see it again! On after that to visit Aunty Jean & Uncle Ron (Arthur). Gosh they are lovely. Had a huge chat and ended up staying until after 6 o'clock! Think they thought they were stuck with us! Home to fish and chips & wine...such a healthy diet :(

Slack As

Well...not as easy as it looked! Can't seem to find a suitable time in the day to do this - not that I am run of my feet, you understand, just poorly organised! Today, however, my attention was hijacked by a puppy dog who wandered onto our verandah at silly o'clock this morning. No sign of an owner & showing no interest in leaving our yard - council pound people to the rescue. She was a lovely thing of indeterminate birth - best the pound guys could come up with was malamut cross kelpie...maybe. They were good guys - very friendly and lovely with the dog. Hope her owners find her ok and then get a great big fine for not having registration tags on her!

Lost Days

Well...not a great start to the blogging. I have fallen down in a heap. Again. Supposed to be at a party and instead have slept all day and now am watching old episodes of Black Books with hubby snoring on the lounge beside me. Ah, life-styles of the rich and famous!

Morning...again

I know that most people seem to regard early rising as some sort of virtue - but I am not one of them! Yes, mornings can be quite beautiful, but generally they are really no better than the rest of the day. I am a late night person. I like nothing better than to sit and talk/read into the wee small hours. Somehow though this is seen as a vice! Are we all still farmers that we need to be ruled by the BYB (Big Yellow Bastard)?

Cleaning Day!

Finally caved to the dirt. Cleaning lady is arriving in about half an hour & am really freaking! It was not until I started cleaning up for this that I really became aware how disgusting this place is!!

Blog!

Wow! I have a Blog! Now I have to think what I want it for....
